Build a Pinch

After a long wait to get all the team together, we managed to book in full day at Naughtone, Halifax to build our very own Pinch Stools.

Organised by Louise, she always makes us feel at home and started the day with a few brunch snacks, a catch up and a look around the showroom. Small but perfectly set, Naughtone have displayed a diverse range of settings to suit both lounging, collaboration and focused work. The products featured include a lot of the current range including those extra finishing touches of rugs, lighting and table decoration.

We were then taken down to pick our fabrics, which can be a difficult process when you have a group of designers and a very indecisive Paul! Our fabrics were then taken through to the factory floor where they were cut and then sewn by some very talented ladies.

Whilst that was happening, we were guided around the factory seeing our pinch stools be made, experiencing the products journey through the factory. What was great about the tour was that it really made us appreciate the work that goes into each product, especially our little Pinches. However, what stands out most at Naughtone Halifax is the genuine craftsmanship from local people who have true skill and a trade behind them - so much is done by hand! Our tour gave us an insight into other products too such as the materials, processes and the day to day operations that a factory like Naughtone requires.

After a quick lunch break, we were back into the workshop and our stools were fully ready to upholster by us. First up were Stephen and Balin, followed by myself and Paul. Thankfully, Johnathan was at hand to guide us through the steps and also help out when needed.

Then like an episode of Bake Off, our Pinches were judged by Quality Inspection, let’s just say it was a very tense moment. It turns out Balin is a pro upholsterer after his was picked as the professionals! Either way though, I think they all turned out great and we fully enjoyed our team trip out. Thanks Louise and Naughtone!
